Glen Ellen is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County, California, United States. The population was 784 at the 2010 census, down from 992 at the 2000 census. Glen Ellen is the location of Jack London State Historic Park (including the Wolf House ), Sonoma Valley Regional Park, and a former home of Hunter S. Thompson .

Dec 13, 2020 · The next mention of Levi Cosley in the Maryland State Archives is on January 21, 1841, when a member of the Gilmor family came to the jail to retrieve his body. The cause of death is not recorded. In December 1846. a property assessment was conducted for the Robert Gilmor Jr.
Glen Ellen is named after the wife of early Sonoma Valley settler Charles V. Stuart, who came to California in 1849 and settled in the Glen Ellen area about 1869, where he “began one of the earliest essays at viticulture in Sonoma County.” Glen Ellen in fact got its start in the vicinity of Stuart’s ranch.
Chauvet died in 1908. Other early settlers included Dr. C. C. O'Donnell, who developed a popular resort, Charles Justi, proprietor of a Wells Fargo station and the first postmaster of Glen Ellen's post office, and the Hon. J. B. Warfield .
