The Dutch Guilder, or Gulden, was the currency of the Netherlands from 1252 until 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro. The name ‘gulden’ simply means ‘gold’. It refers to the Florin, a golden coin struck in Florence in the mid-13th century, which became popular in Holland and all over Europe. Dutch Guilders are now obsolete.

Nov 22, 2021 · History of the Dutch Guilder . The beginnings of the Dutch Guilder can be traced several hundred years back. In the 14th century, the florin – Florence’s own currency, became widespread in the Northern Europe. People started referring to it as the guilder, which originated from gulden florijn – a golden florin.
The two Dutch productions of 10 Guilder coins featuring Queen Wilhelmina ran during select dates from 1911 to 1917 and 1925 to 1933. Other than slight design changes to the front, or obverse, these gold coins carry the same specifications, including size, weight, and composition (90% pure gold).
Contains .1947 oz actual Gold weight. Multiples of 40 Guilders are packaged in tubes. Lesser quantities will be in protective packaging. Obverse: Depicts a bust of the reigning monarch at the time the Dutch coin was struck. Reverse: Crowned Royal arms of Holland with denomination. Minted at Dutch Royal Mint in Utrecht.
