J.J. the Teacher is the seventh episode of Season 6 of Good Times, and the 116th episode overall. Written by Mark Fink, the episode, which was directed by Gerren Keith, premiered on CBS-TV, originally airing on October 21, 1978.
J.J. meets a young student who wants art lessons. Though J.J. offers to teach for free, the boy's father refuses to let him study with J.J.
J.J. holds painting classes in the apartment and Thelma and Michael are tired of it. However, he wants to help one student is having problems at home. His father does not want him painting and is being abusive.
To bring some much needed money into the Evans household, J.J. begins giving art lessons in his living room. Curious as to why his student Earl (Ernest Harden, Jr.) is acting so strangely, J.J. soon learns the terrible truth.
