A Loss of Confidence is the thirteenth episode of Season 3 of Good Times, as well as the fiftieth episode overall. Written by Jack Elinson and Norman Paul, the episode, which was directed by Herbert Kenwith, premiered on CBS-TV, originally airing for the first time on December 9, 1975.
J.J. falls head over heels for Thelma's friend. But after she declines his romantic advances, he feels completely dejected.
When a pretty girl does not fall for J.J.'s charm, he thinks he is losing his touch and goes into a depression.
Convinced that he's "dy-no-mite" with the ladies, J.J. (Jimmie Walker) turns on the charm with his sister Thelma's (BernNadette Stanis) girl friend JoAnn (Catherine Lee Smith). Astonishingly, however, J.J.'s technique fails to win JoAnn over. Turned down for a date, J.J.'s ego goes into a tailspin, leading to a deep blue funk from which he may neve...

S3.E6 ∙ The Weekend. Tue, Oct 14, 1975. Florida and James celebrate their wedding with a weekend in a friend's snow covered cabin while their children, left alone with JJ in charge, are at war. James carries Florida over the threshold to recreate their honeymoon, but since Florida has put on a bit of weight since then, James struggles.
