     You can link it in your HTML like so:

     <link rel="preconnect" href="https://fonts.googleapis.com"><link rel="preconnect" href="https://fonts.gstatic.com" crossorigin><link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Roboto+Slab&family=Roboto:wght@400;500;700&display=swap" rel="stylesheet">-

     or import it in your CSS:

     @import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Roboto+Slab&family=Roboto:wght@400;500;700&display=swap');-

     and then apply it to your css like so:

     font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif;font-family: 'Roboto Slab', serif;-

     Then you can delete your @font-face implementations.

     Apparently it's a known Chrome bug. There's a css-only workaround that should solve the problem:

     body { -webkit-animation-delay: 0.1s; -webkit-animation-name: fontfix; -webkit-animation-duration: 0.1s; -webkit-animation-iteration-count: 1; -webkit-animation-timing-function: linear;}@-webkit-keyframes fontfix { from { opacity: 1; } to { opacity: 1; }}

     It seems like Chrome just needs to be told to repaint the text

     If the css fix does not work for you

     In case the first rated post is not working, here is a solution:

     remove the 'http:' in:

     <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Alfa+Slab+One' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> -

     or

     @import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Alfa+Slab+One);-

     As explained by David Bain, most modern browsers don't actually require that you specify the protocol, they will "deduce" the protocol based on the context from which you called it

     The CSS fix didn't work for me, also the 0.5 sec delay script seems awkward.

     This JS snippet seems to work for us:

     I am pretty sure that it has to do with the order of the different font files. A browser picks the first file format it supports and SVG is pretty old school so you may end up with this strange behavior.

     Check this answer: What's the correct order to load fonts in?

     Paul Irish suggests that the 'bullet proof' way to load fonts is to render EOT first, followed by WOFF, TTF, and lastly SVG.

     I usually include fonts as imports in scss partial:

     @import url("https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Nunito+Sans:wght@300;400;600;700");-

     then in my vars.scss I will define a variable something like this:

     $font-default: "Nunito Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, -apple-system;
