News for 2023-2024: The Canada goose season length in the Northeast, West Central, East Central, Hudson Valley, and Lake Champlain zones has been increased to 45 days with a 3 bird bag limit. The mallard bag limit has increased from 2 per day (no more than 1 hen) to 4 per day (no more than 2 hens).

Northeast Zone — September 23 and 24. Southeast Zone — September 23 and 24. Western Zone — October 7 and January 20. Long Island Zone — November 11 and 12. This special two-day hunt prior to the regular season in each waterfowl hunting zone provides young waterfowl hunters (ages 12-15) with the opportunity to spend time afield with an experienced adult hunter pursuing ducks, geese, and brant.
