About GP Vanier Secondary. The school opened in January 1968, completing a move of students from the old Courtenay Senior High School. Vanier was built to have a capacity of 1200 students. The school population grew to more than 1700 in the early 2000s, with the addition of 36 portable classrooms.

Approximately 1100 students from grades 8-12 attend G.P. Vanier each year. It is located next to the Comox Valley Track and Field Center, Comox Valley Regional Sports Center, which includes a swimming pool, two ice arenas, an outdoor artificial turf, and weight room.

We celebrate learning and personal accomplishment which results in people taking pride in and assuming responsibility for themselves and their school.
