Description and history. The former Greenwich Town Hall is located near the center of the Greenwich's central business district, on the east side of Greenwich Avenue at Havemeyer Place. The building is shaped like a vertical cube, three stories, with single-story wings extending to the sides.

The Greenwich Avenue Historic District is a historic district representing the commercial and civic historical development of the downtown area of the town of Greenwich, Connecticut. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 31, 1989.

This fantastic museum is posted on a hill enclosed in parkland, in a mansion that was bequeathed to the city by the textile magnate Robert M. Bruce (1822-1908). He donated the property on the condition that it be turned into a museum when he passed away.
