The name Shepherdess Walk refers to a street, park and contemporary art installation in the London Borough of Hackney. The Roman-inspired mosaic murals were designed to showcase the area’s modern history and commemorate the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Designed by local artist Tessa Hunkin, the artworks consist of Roman mosaic wall panels.

At their peak, the factories employed over 15,000 people, however as many shut down in the late twentieth century, the area transformed from a lively manufacturing spot to become more residential.

Nice start along the canal in Hackney Wick then a long and monotone, but green stretch along the Greenway to Beckton Park. The park is the nicest part of the walk. Would recommend doing this segment in reverse and stopping off for food and drink at the end of the walk in Hackney Wick.
