Apr 17, 2004 · Apr 17, 2004 #3. The original owner of this gun was doing electrical work at Hals shop. There is a wood stove. Hal is working on a stock. The customer comes in and complains "What's taking so long with that stock". Hal tosses it in the wood stove " Just finished it". customwerks.

I saw some mention of Hal Hartley's stocks on this site months ago and couldn't get any feedback. I have a Pre 64 model 70 Winchester, bolt of course. I bought it just because it was beautifully finished and when I disassembled it for cleaning I found Hal Hartley written on the stock with the date 1955 next to it.
Sako action model L61R with 24113 serial number. Custom birdseye maple stock with really neat checkering done by Hal Hartley. Owned by former Western Auto executive. Barrel is in great condition, bore is excellent, but there is some rust on buttpad. Wood has some minor indentations on stock.
