The time travel element is purposeful; people and machine are sent back with a mission. 'Demon With A Glass Hand', yes does have, what is revealed to be, a machine sent back in time to save humanity.
Apr 5, 2010 · He wrote two episodes of The Outer Limits – "Soldier" and "Demon with a Glass Hand" that were acknowledged (after the film was made, I guess) as inspiration for Terminator. So they had to give Ellison credit and pay him. Ellison tells the story much better.
Ellison was later to bring suit against The Terminator production company Hemdale and distributor Orion Pictures for plagiarism [2] of his works.
