The park opened in 1973 as the Harlem River Park and was renamed after Clemente, the first Latino-American inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The annual Roberto Clemente Week celebrates the famed baseball player's life with a series of special events at the park. During the summer, the park is home to numerous concerts and special events.
