The restaurant to which Lavon takes Zoe (where she tries grits for the first time) is the "Rammer Jammer." This is a reference to a spectators' cheer yelled at University of Alabama football games when Alabama has just won or is clearly about to win. The cheer goes: "Hey, (opposing team)! Hey, (opposing team)! Hey, (opposing team)! We just beat the hell outta you! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer Give 'em hell, Alabama!"

The interior and exterior of the "Rammer Jammer" is the same set as Merlotte's from True Blood.

•Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Zoe calls her football uniform for the parade a "football costume", and Emmeline corrects her that it's a uniform not a costume. But when Zoe first met Lavon, she knew quite a bit about football and should know it's a uniform.

'Parades & Pariahs' is a fairly explicit title- referring to the Founder's Day Parade, while pariah, by it's very definition as 'someone who is rejected' refers to Zoe and her ostracism from the rest of Bluebell.

Tom Long: Never met a New Yorker before. Do you know Regis?

Dash DeWitt: You know, I do a theatre trip every April- The Book of Mormon sent me over the moon and back!]]

Zoe Hart: You were in the NFL for ten years and the Founder's Day Parade is your favorite event?

Zoe Hart: Miss Whitaker, according to Harley's nearly Webster's-long file on you, and the fact that you are presenting me with symptoms that are only consistent with the Black Plague, I'm positive that you are perfectly healthy- and suggest that you see a psychologist.

The Black Plague was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, peaking in Europe between 1348 and 1350.

Zoe Hart: I did a psychiatric rotation at Bellevue- Harley giving her tic-tacs just enabled her.

Shelley Ng: So what's your deal- you married? Got a boyfriend?

    Tom Long: You lookin'?

Lavon Hayes: "Oh! This Saturday's the Founder's Day Parade - my favorite event of the year."

Zoe Hart: "You were in the NFL for ten years and the Founder's Day Parade is your favorite event?"

Wade Kinsella: "So, Doc, hear you're staying in town. You ever need a cup of sugar, anything, I'll be right next door."

Zoe Hart: "If that line ever works for you, tell that poor girl to come to my office so I can dispense the penicillin."
