Philip A. Hart Plaza, in downtown Detroit, is a city plaza along the Detroit River. It is located more or less on the site at which Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac landed in 1701 when he founded Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, the settlement that became Detroit.

Hart Plaza is a riverfront park in downtown Detroit, named after former U.S. Sen. Philip A. Hart. It hosts summer-long festivals and the Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival, as well as live entertainment and events.
Hart Plaza is a pretty big square just by the Detroit Riverwalk. It offers great downtown and river views. Also there're several great monuments around it - to Ford, Cadillac and the magnificent Underground railroad sculpture.

At the center of the plaza is the famed Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain, designed by Isamu Noguchi.
Hart Plaza is a 14-acre open riverfront park in Detroit, Michigan, named after the late Senator Philip A. Hart. It was opened in 1975 on the site of the original settlement of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac and features a war memorial, a fountain, a sculpture, and a Veterans Memorial Hall. It is part of the Detroit International River Walk and the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority.
