Harvey Helm (December 2, 1865 – March 3, 1919) was a United States representative from Kentucky. He was born in Danville, Kentucky. He attended the Stanford Male Academy and was graduated from the Central University of Kentucky in 1887. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1890 and began practice in Stanford, Kentucky .
A small local library was first established in the 1830s. The library was renamed in 1970 in honor of Harvey Helm, a native son who became a Kentucky statesman and member of the United States House of Representatives between 1909 and 1917. The first school was built sometime in the 1850s, as the Male Academy.
It has also been known as the Harvey Helm Historic Library & Museum. It is a five-bay two-story weatherboarded house on the south side of what is now U.S. Route 150, but was the Old Wilderness Road from the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky and to the Falls of the Ohio. It was built before 1790.
Remaining 18th-century buildings that are open to the public include the William Whitley House (1788), the oldest brick house in Kentucky, and the Harvey Helm Memorial Museum and Library.
