Head Harbour Lighthouse was built on a small, rocky islet, located off the northern tip of Campobello Island and accessible by land only at or near low tide. Communication with the lighthouse was primarily by boat until £80 was expended in 1830 to establish a road between the northern end of the island and Wilson’s Beach, the nearest settlement.
East Quoddy Lighthouse aka Head Harbour Light is a must See any time you are in the Maritimes. Take a hike to the light at the tip Of FDR's Beloved Campobello Island , at low tide the only time you can get to it, or take a charter boat and sea it from the water. An awesome sight either way. always whales , bald eagles and harbor seals.

The Head Harbour Lighthouse is an iconic red and white lighthouse off the tip of Campobello Island. The lighthouse is on a rocky island that is only accessible at low tide. You can see the lighthouse from just off the end of the parking lot where there is a picnic table and lookout area.
Upon crossing into Canada, we followed Route 774 for two (2) miles to a fork, where we travelled to your right for an additional 7 miles to reach the lighthouse viewpoint at Head Harbour. The total drive ONE WAY is about 2.75 hours from Bar Harbor, but it is definitely a trip worth making.
