Heliopolis (Egyptian Arabic: مصر الجديدة, Maṣr el-Gedīda, [ˈmɑsˤɾ el ɡɪˈdiːdæ,-eɡ-], lit. "New Egypt") was an early 20th century suburb outside Cairo, Egypt, which has since merged with Cairo and is administratively divided into the districts of Masr El Gedida and El Nozha in the Eastern Area.
The ancient city is currently located about 15–20 meters (49–66 ft) below the streets of the middle- and lower-class suburbs of Al-Matariyyah, Ain Shams, and Tel Al-Hisn in northern Cairo. The area is about 1.5 kilometers (1 mi) west of the modern suburb which bears its name .

Heliopolis style is an early 20th-century architectural style developed in the new suburb of Heliopolis in eastern Cairo, Egypt. The Belgian Cairo Electric Railways and Heliopolis Oases Company , responsible for planning and developing the new suburb, created the new style to implement an exclusive distinctiveness to the design of its buildings.
