The Hell House is the eighth boss you'll face in Final Fantasy VII Remake. It can be found in Chapter 9 - The Town That Never Sleeps during the "Underground Colosseum" mission.

Watch the video below to see the Hell House boss fight and pick up some tips!

Before you enter the colosseum you're offered a mysterious drink in one of the rooms on the left.

This drink has no positive or negative impact on your battle(s)

Below you'll find recommended Materia and Equipment for the upcoming battle.

    Materia

•Ice, Fire, Lightning, and Wind Materia, but don’t link any of them to weapons because the boss will rotate through elements. This changes its weaknesses and what it absorbs (in order to heal). It doesn't matter who gets what kind of magic.

•Fat Chocobo Summon Materia because it doesn't deal any elemental damage (meaning you'll be able to use it at any time unlike all the other summons) and any other summon (make sure you use it correctly, Shiva's Ice Damage should only be summoned when the boss is red (for fire), for example.

•Assess is always recommended if you're set on collecting Enemy Intel but since you can use this guide page to get that intel we focussed our recommendations on other Materia.

In addition to the materia listed above, here are more suggestions:

•Cloud - ATB Boost: an easy way for Cloud to fill his ATB meter even when he can't attack (when Hell House's shield is up), MP Up: this battle is long so having plenty of MP is important and unlike Aerith, he doesn't have an ability that builds MP, Chakra/Heal or Barrier/Refocus: they all have their own benefits. Allowing both characters to be able to heal can be useful since you never know who will be sucked into the house (taking high damage). Barrier would allow some extra protection. And Refocus is always a good option but it can only be used once so it's lower on our list.

    •Weakness / Status Ailments: Ice/Fire/Lightning/Wind (Rotating)

    •Lesser Resistances: None

    •Greater Resistances: Physical Damage

    •Immunities: Silence, Slow, Proportional Damage

    •Absorbed Elements: Fire/Ice/Lighting/Wind (Rotating)

•Abilities: Chair Salvo (Physical), Hospitality (Physical), House Call (Physical), Barrier Shift

After casting Assess, you can re-check the information by tapping the touchpad. You can also easily tell which element which will be absorbed by looking at the color of the windows. Red = Fire, Green = Wind, Yellow = Lightning, and Blue = Ice. Avoid casting those spells, as they will heal Hell House. Instead, focus on the opposite element, so if the windows are Red, cast Ice. If they are Green, cast Thunder, and so on.

The first weakness should be Ice, so hit it hard with Fire while dodging flying chairs and keeping Cloud and Aerith healed up. After dealing enough damage, Hell House will cast Barrier Shift, and the windows will change color, indicating new weaknesses and elemental absorptions. Check the weakness, then hit hard.

After a short time, the Hell House will retreat to the stadium seating and cast Chair Salvo. Run around and dodge the chairs, or simply block and weather the storm. Remember, Blocking charges your ATB gauge so we recommend doing this as Cloud who will have fewer opportunities to attack when Hell House starts using its shield in Phase 2.

After a short time, it will return to the colosseum floor, your Summon will begin to awaken, and a transformation will take place.

    •Weaknesses / Status Ailments: None

    •Lesser Resistances: None

    •Greater Resistances: None

    •Immunities: Silence, Slow, Proportional Damage

    •Absorbed Elements: None

•New Abilities Gained: Housing Rush (Physical), Jetstream (Physical & Magical: Fire), Rocket Charge (Physical)

During this time, either of your characters can be sucked inside the Hell House, where they will take steady damage over several seconds, and then take a large chunk of damage as they are spat out. It is important to note that the trapped character can still be healed while they are inside, so use this opportunity to prevent their death.

When the boss charges / waddles towards you, dodge roll in a large circle around the colosseum floor until it stops chasing you to avoid taking damage (it will take a while for it to stop).

Occasionally, the Hell House will drop its shield to pull off an elemental attack, as noted by its colored windows. Take this opportunity to attack it with a weakness - note who it's targeting and attack with the correct magic with the character it's not intent on attacking. Hopefully, you'll be lucky enough to have the right magic Materia on the character that doesn't have to focus on defending.

After dealing enough damage, Hell House will enter God House Mode and a massive shield will cover it. During this time, it will take very little damage, and almost no Pressured or Stagger damage. Don't bother doing any physical attacks here.

•Block Attacks, especially the lower damage ones such as the flying chairs. Do this as Cloud since his ATB meter is the hardest to fill effectively during this fight.

•Use Aeirth's Soul Drain, especially when Hell House is Staggered, to gain MP.

•Case Spells Wisely: while higher damage versions of your spells are tempting, the lower damage ones can be cast more quickly.
