Helmstedt – Wolfsburg is located in southeastern Lower Saxony. As of the 2021 federal election, it comprises the independent city of Wolfsburg, the district of Helmstedt, and the Samtgemeinden of Boldecker Land and Brome and the Giebel area from the Gifhorn district.
On the south-eastern edge of Lower Saxony, the forested Helmstedt District is stuck between great cities and great mountains. It has Brunswick and Wolfsburg to the north and the busy Harz Mountains to the south. Its eastern border is with Saxony-Anhalt and the city of Magdeburg.
