I saw this discussion Help talk:IPA/Italian/Archive 1#Southern American 'time' as an approximation of Italian /a/ involving Peter238, Aeusoes1 and IvanScrooge98 where it looks like f a ther was chosen for the /a/ English approximation. However, I was messaging IvanScrooge98, and I think we agree that this is a tough one to approximate.
