- Texas Hill Country
- Garner State Park – Concan, TX. Garner State Park is 1,774 acres of beautiful Hill Country located in Concan. It has 2.9 miles of Frio River winding through it, as well as 11 miles of hiking trails.
- Guadalupe River State Park – Spring Branch, TX. This 1,938-acre park is home to a four-mile stretch of the Guadalupe River. Visitors can pitch their tents at a number of campsites near the water, including some secluded spots on the river.
- Krause Springs – Spicewood, TX. Krause Springs is located just outside of Driftwood and provides a spring-fed, man-made swimming pool at the top of the hill and the legendary, spring-fed swimming hole at the bottom of the hill.
- Canyon of the Eagles Campground – Burnet, TX. This park is owned by the LCRA, and most of the land is designated as a wildlife habitat. It is located on Lake Buchanan, so visitors have many opportunities for water recreation and primitive camping.

Description. Hermit’s Shack is a bit of a misnomer -- with another whole campground just to the south, chances are you won’t be alone out here. Located in the north corner of the park, these primitive sites are a 3.5-mile hike from the main parking lot.

Apr 2, 2020 · The Hill Country State Natural area rests just outside of San Antonio, but it’s far away from anything you’d expect being so close to the city. It has rolling hills, amazing plant life, and some of the best hiking I’ve experienced so far in Texas.
