  1. Open your Google Sheets document. Go to the cell where you want to display the hiragana translation. Enter the formula =HIRAGANA(A3) in the cell, assuming the value you want to convert is in cell A3. Press Enter to apply the formula. The custom function will call the Google Translate API and return the hiragana translation of the text in cell A3.

  6. For example, one of them is the formula JTOOLS_HIRAGANA (word), which automatically converts the word into pure hiragana (furigana); this comes in useful when I don't know how to read the kanji. So if I have one cell that has the word "興す", I just use my formula and it automatically displays the hiragana (おこす).
