Feb 15, 2018 · Coccidioidomycosis, also known as Valley fever, is a disease caused by dimorphic fungi of the genus Coccidioides . The arthroconidia persist in soil, and environmental factors, including season, temperature, precipitation, and soil salinity, influence the organism’s life cycle (2–4).
Rickettsialpox is initially characterized by a papulovesicular lesion, which occurs within 2 days of the mite bite and progresses to an eschar with surrounding induration and edema. Constitutional symptoms such as fever, headache, and myalgias ensue 1 to 2 weeks after the initial lesion.
