Dec 21, 2022 · Hobart Brothers, the company that manufactures Hobart welders to this day despite its merger with Illinois Tool Works, was founded in 1917. That is over a century of history behind your welder! Hobart started out as a family company run by C.C. Hobart, his wife, and three sons.
In 1925, it produced its first welder, which started Hobart Brothers on the path to becoming a preeminent company in the welding industry. It also became a prominent supporter of welding education with the establishment of the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in 1930.
1927: Clarence Birdsey perfects the flash-freezing process. 1927: Hobart acquires Paul Navarre et Fils, Europe's leading commercial warewashing manufacturer. 1928: The Hobart Model 6030, the first commercially successful potato peeler design on the market, is introduced. 1929: The American Culinary Federation is founded.
