The duck costume went through multiple upgrades through the years, but it never seemed to catch on with the Hofstra crowd, who even went so far as to steal the duck’s head and set it aflame.

Thus, when the nickname officially changed to the Hofstra Pride, Kate and Willie were already fixtures at school events and ready to take over the full-time mascot role.
