Aug 31, 2023 · The newer, lower part of the castle was built by Margrave Bernhard I in the late 14th century. In 1479, the Margraves moved to Baden to a more comfortable palace and this castle was abandoned. In 1599, it was destroyed by fire and left in ruins. Thankfully, there are still parts to see today though.
