Camp Green Lake isn't a camp; it is a juvenile detention center. And there is no lake, just a dry lake bed where boys are forced to dig holes.
He married in 1985 and his daughter was born two years later. Holes has proven one of Sachar's most famous books; it won the prestigious Newbery Medal in 1999 and was adapted into a Disney movie in 2003.
