During Twilight Tours, guests are taken on a two-hour guided tour of select areas of the Honolulu Zoo. Visitors get to see the bedtime rituals of some animal residents, while others are just waking up. Areas tour-goers may visit include the African Savanna, Primate Island, and the Reptiles. Twilight Tours occur rain or shine.

It is the only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch and is built on part of the 300-acre (121 ha) royal Queen Kapiʻolani Park. The Honolulu Zoo features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats. Over 750,000 people visit the zoo annually.
