You can add a citation by selecting from the drop-down menu at the top of the editing box. In markup, you can add a citation manually using ref tags. More elaborate and useful ways to cite sources are detailed below.

Where to place references: for more detailed information on when to include a reference, look at WP:CITE. When you want to cite a source, place the citation right after the information citing. If you're citing a sentence, place the reference after the period. It's prettier that way.
Fortunately, there is a tool called "RefToolbar" built into the Wikipedia edit window, which makes it much easier. To activate it, simply click on Cite at the top of the edit window. Position the edit window cursor after the fact or sentence you wish to reference, and then select one of the templates from the dropdown menu.
If there are 21 or more authors, use an ellipsis (but no ampersand) after the 19th author, and then add the final author’s name. Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work.
