timfitz42 • 9 yr. ago. Okay ... so basically (in the US) a rear admiral traditionally takes care of task forces whereas a full admiral takes care of a full fleet. Now that's the traditional view of it, but in reality the job responsibilities vary and they are basically just lower end admirals.
