Mar 19, 2024 · By overlooking Petunia’s character development, her film portrayal falls short of capturing the depth and complexity depicted in the books. It will be interesting to see whether or not, in the upcoming TV adaptation, Petunia will be portrayed with the depth and nuance befitting her character.
I get the books don't focus on mental health but traumas a real witch. Petunia and by extension Vernon want nothing to do with the Wizarding World but we're forced to and it's clear that the entire family is borderline traumatized by magic and wizards/witches. Doubled down by the constant disrespect the Wizarding world treats them with.
