Thematic layers were collected from several government sources in the Philippines. A 5 m resolution IFSAR digital elevation model (DEM) was acquired from the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority. Political boundary dataset was obtained from the Bohol Provincial Planning and Development Office. Soil lithology, morphology, and land cov...

Landslide inventory was conducted from November 2015 to January 2016. Locations of more than 300 major and minor landslides were mapped using ArcGIS. In addition, onscreen digitization of obvious and visible landslides in Google Earth was also conducted within the survey period (Figs. 1, 2 and 3).

2.3.1 Preparation of GIS Input Maps

To assess landslide vulnerability due to physical factors, various thematic maps were assigned with classes and weights according to their relative importance in influencing landslide . This study followed the categories in the manual on vulnerability assessment by ERDB published in 2011 for reclassifying each pre-identified parameter . All datasets were reclassified into a 5 m raster and clipped to the extent of the Loboc Watershed (Table 1). Rainfall point measurements were interpolat...

The model parameters were subjectively assigned of weights. The first model imitates the model found in the document Manual on Vulnerability Assessment of Watersheds . Four additional models were tested with varying weights (Table 3). Hazard maps were generated by overlaying the different thematic maps based on the following relationship: where 1. ...

  5. In the Philippines, a nationwide inventory of >12000 landslides is available (Lagmay et al., 2017). However, most of the landslides are mapped as points rather than polygons, precluding magnitude-frequency analysis, a major component of landslide hazard assessment (Guzzetti et al., 2005).

  6. Oct 15, 2013 · The study generally aimed to assess Loboc Watershed, Bohol, Philippines, land-slide hazard through the application of GIS. Loboc Watershed, in southwest Bohol, experienced extensive landslides that were initiated by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake on October 15, 2013, causing extensive casualties and property damage [4]. The.

  7. A large part of Southern Leyte, Philippines is susceptible to structurally controlled land-15 slides. Old landslide scars and large-scale landslide deposits are apparent in the area with the most-recent landslide being formed by the 2006 Guinsaugon debris avalanche event.
