Ohio residents wanting to marry in Ohio, must apply in the county where they reside. Out of state residents getting married in Ohio, must apply in the county in which they are getting married. Ohio residents getting married in another state or country, must apply in the state or country in which they are getting married.
At least one applicant must live in Franklin County for a marriage license to be issued by this court. The license is valid anywhere in the State of Ohio. If both applicants reside out of state but will marry in Ohio, their marriage license must be issued in the county where the ceremony will take place.
To legally get married in Ohio, you’ll first need to obtain a marriage license. Ohio couples can do this at the probate court within each county. Most counties allow you to pre-register your application online to save time.
