On September 2, 2017, Howard football reached a milestone by defeating their first FBS opponent in program history. The Bison defeated the UNLV Rebels 43–40 in Sam Boyd Stadium. As of September 2017, Howard's victory against UNLV is the biggest point-spread upset in college football history, with UNLV being a 45.5 point favorite.

Nov 18, 2023 · Howard women’s hoops gets commitment from SEC transfer. For the first time in 30 years, the Howard Bison have claimed the outright MEAC championship following a 14-7 win over the Morgan State Bears. Jarett Hunter led the Bison, who produced 108 rushing yards on 20 attempts and scored a touchdown.
Nov 19, 2022 · Bison Quinton Williams threw two touchdown passes to lead an offense that racked up 369 total yards in a 35-6 win over Morgan State to claim a share of the MEAC championship. Howard’s first-place finish is the first for the Bison since 1993 when the program won the Black college national title. Counted out!
