On September 2, 2017, Howard football reached a milestone by defeating their first FBS opponent in program history. The Bison defeated the UNLV Rebels 43–40 in Sam Boyd Stadium . As of September 2017, Howard's victory against UNLV is the biggest point-spread upset in college football history, with UNLV being a 45.5 point favorite.
Outstanding features such as this make stadium one of the very finest in the nation. The stadium opened in 1998 with a seating capacity of 40,000. In November 2006 the Louisville Athletic Association Board of Directors approved a $63 million expansion that increased the capacity of Cardinal Stadium to 55,000.

That's all you'll ever need”. Five decades after he said it Clemson averaged nearly 80,000 per game! One piece of advice that proved well off the mark.
