U.S. Naturalization Records. U.S. Naturalization Records. New York, U.S., Arriving Passenger and Crew Lists (including Castle Garden and Ellis Island), 1820-1957. This database is an index to the passenger lists of ships arriving from foreign ports at the port of New York from 1820-1957.
The National Archives at New York City holds the older naturalization records from federal courts in New York, as well as photographic copies of naturalization records from state and federal courts in the counties now comprising New York City and from state courts in two upstate counties.

The earliest records are from 1853 and continue up to 1990 when the process of naturalization was turned over to the Federal government. The complete database has over 68,000 names. Among the records are 49 petition books containing over 12,000 names of military personnel that was processed at the U. S. Army base, Camp Upton.
