Ilan Stavans is a leading scholar and translator of Spanish, Latinx and Latin American culture and literature. He teaches courses on topics such as Spanglish, Borges, García Márquez, Neruda, and Jewish-Hispanic relations, and is the publisher of Restless Books and co-founder of the Great Books Summer Program.
Ilan Stavans is the Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities and Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College, and the publisher of Restless Books. He has edited and translated many volumes of Latino literature, such as Isaac Bashevis Singer, Pablo Neruda, and Miguel de Cervantes. He has also written and translated books on American English, Yiddish, and Maya culture.
