   The problem with it is that, it doesn't really have a good story. In my opinion, Ring has a wayyy better story and is more entertaining. Also, the conjuring, the exorcist, Blair witch, Noroi etc. are better movies overall in my opinion. However, the grudge is the scariest.

Bill Pullman wakes up next to his wife, greets the day from the balcony of their bedroom, and then -- well, I, for one, was gob-smacked.    Is the Grudge a good prequel?

   • That concept alone is better than anything The Grudge did. It's one of the first Jun-On prequel. Actually Shimizu did a lot of changes of the characters and their deaths as compared to original novel version. Nevertheless for me it's still one of my favourite J horror. I loved both Japanese version and the two American remake.

   I think people consider The Grudge to be a good movie just because it manages to be a relatively creepy, atmospheric film, even though there isn’t that much about it that is special. The 2004 Grudge is itself an American remake of a Japanese horror film called Ju-On: The Grudge, and while I like the American one, I think the Japanese one is better.
