Having reached its ten year anniversary, I decided to watch Four Lions with my flatmate and his girlfriend, rewatch for us, first time viewing for her. By the end she admitted that while funny, she found it to be one of the most racist films she’s ever seen and lost interest about half-way through.
“Four Lions" is a transgressive comedy about five such people. They live in an anonymous British suburb and dream of jihad. They speak such a fluent mixture of working-class Brit slang and argot, in such fluent accents, that it's odd to hear their radical beliefs in such commonplace slang. Advertisement. All are Muslims. Four have Pakistani roots.
Parents need to know that Four Lions is a hilarious, but dark British satirical comedy -- about a group of men planning a terrorist attack in the name of Al-Qaeda -- with plenty of strong language. The movie is very funny but also at times deadly serious.

What it's about. The take. Four Lions is as black and as dark as a movie can ever get, mixing cultural relevancy with humor and ridiculousness. It is insensitive to Islam, insensitive to terrorism and insensitive to the viewer. But it is hilarious. The director spent three years talking to Imams, terrorism experts and basically everyone.
