The seven colleges all have distinct histories and traditions. Some 25 per cent of students at the university are international.
With a college system modeled on that of Cambridge and Oxford, the University of Toronto provides its 40,000+ undergraduates with both the resources of an elite global research university and the experience of a smaller undergraduate community.
The University of Cambridge is therefore a confederation of Colleges, Faculties and other institutions. It functions with a relatively small central administration, and with central bodies consisting of, and mainly elected by, the current academic personnel of the Faculties and Colleges.
