Yes in that the writers took care not to contradict existing sources, but no in that ‘canon’ isn’t really set in stone in this franchise unlike, say, Star Wars where official sources make a point to make the status of a work clear. One of these projects is apparently a sequel to Alien: Isolation, which has either just been pitched or is in early development at Creative Assembly.
From all the little I've learned it is actually a system driven enemy a la Alien in Isolation, just not as sophisticated, so there probably should be randomness to it that you're asking about
