  2. As an aside, I don't think 1984 is Orwell's best work. It's around the same level as Animal Farm but (to me at least) Homage to Catalonia was a superior book. Last thing, if you do decide to read 1984, remember that it is a critique of Stalinism not Communism as a whole.
