  1. Think you've squished it horizontally, the video is 4:3, so if you want to go to 1080p you want 1440x1080. But you're not going to see any quality difference between 960x720 and 1440x1080 ;-) If you're doing AI upscaling, run it through Shutter first to deinterlace, but don't scale/crop.

Mar 11, 2008 · So the source for UK TV broadcasts is either film (25p once sped up) or video (50Hz interlaced) - the latter might be captured at 50p but it never reaches us like that and therefore my guess is that in the broadcast chain they might choose to save the bandwidth & use 50i all the way along.

  5. I would use a 1280x720 50p project. 25p will be flickery and jerky. 50p will keep the smooth motion of the interlaced PAL DV. If you're going to use QTGMC () to deinterlace also use nnedi3_rpow2 () to upscale. And maybe a little pre and/or post sharpening. The 1280x720 30p sources will be a little jerky at 50p.

  6. Jul 6, 2007 · #1. 576i the PAL standard is a higher resolution then 480p right? I've just switched my Wii settings to this and the picture quality has improved a bit , I'm using my Wii on a 32" Samsung by the way. The trade of it seems is that 480i/p is 60hz while 576i is 50hz.

  7. It's not a free solution, but likely the best one - get yourself a copy of Topaz Video AI. I believe it's $299 (although there are often coupons flying around), and it's by far the best software we've found for deinterlacing and upscaling footage.

  8. Jan 23, 2024 · As explained above 576i offers 576 lines of vertical resolution and up to a maximum of 720 lines of horizontal resolution (720 x 576). In NTSC broadcast system countries like the USA, this is referred to as 480i (720 x 480). What this means is there are 576 active scan lines per interlaced frame. The frame rate is set at 25Hz to be compatible ...
