Jan 8, 2024 · Timanfaya is a park composed entirely of volcanic soils. The biggest eruptions recorded in the region were the 6 years between 1730 and 1736 – during this period, over 100 volcanoes became active and devastated part of the island. It is one of the main parts of the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve created by Unesco in 1993.

Before starting the visit, we advise you to check out the Visitor Centre located in Mancha Blanca, which gives free access to an exhibition and an audiovisual programme offering a complete overview of the Park in several languages. Feb 21, 2020 · The vast majority of the park can only be accessed by a bus tour, which takes you through the volcanoes in a guided tour that is available in various languages. There's also the possibility of exploring the park through guided walks on designated paths, but you need to book your spot ahead of time.
May 14, 2019 · Touring Timanfaya National Park. To protect the environment there is no access to Timanfaya beyond the visitor centre other than by National Park operated coach. The 30-40 minute bus tour through the lava fields (Ruta de los Volcanes) is included in your entrance ticket. On board there is a pre-recorded multi-lingual commentry.
Below are my top recommendations that you can’t miss. 1. Timanfaya Route of the Volcanoes bus tour. The Route of the Volcanoes is the most popular bus tour in Timanfaya National Park. Travel by bus (or guagua, as the Canarians say) and enjoy striking views of the park’s volcanic landscape.
How to get to Timanfaya. Since there is no public bus to the Timanfaya National Park, you will either need to hire a car or visit as part of an organised coach tour. The Grand Tour of Lanzarote and the Lanzarote South Tour both visit the park as part of their itinerary and include the entrance fee in their ticket price.
