SWEAT, ISAAC PAYTON (1945–1990). Isaac Payton Sweat, singer and instrumentalist, was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 19, 1945. Ike was born into a musical family. His father, Dawdie Sweat, had played with his three brothers for many dances and events in Pineville, Louisiana, in the 1920s and 1930s.
Ikey always folowed the Cotton Eyed Joe with the Schottische and I always feel something is mising when they are not played together. If you are looking for an authentic version of the Cotton Eyed Joe - this is it. It is also a pretty decent recreation of the Sweat Band's nightly sets at the Winchester Club.
