Ilha da Queimada Grande, more commonly referred to as Snake Island, is an island off the coast of Brazil in the Atlantic Ocean. The island became famous for its abundant snakes, hence the name "Snake Island". It is administered as part of the municipality of Itanhaém in the State of São Paulo.

The island is infested with between 2,000 and 4,000 golden lancehead vipers, one of the deadliest snakes in the world. The venom can kill a person in under an hour and has medical and pharmaceutical potential. The island is also a popular destination for biologists and researchers, but requires special permission and precautions.

Snake Island, or Ilha de Queimada Grande, is a small island off the coast of Brazil where venomous lancehead vipers live in large numbers. The island is home to one of the deadliest snakes in the world, the golden lancehead viper, which can kill with one bite. Only scientists and researchers are allowed to visit the island, which is also home to a lighthouse and a tragic story of a fisherman who died from snake bite.
