ISO 3166-2:DE is the entry for Germany in ISO 3166-2, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which defines codes for the names of the principal subdivisions (e.g., provinces or states) of all countries coded in ISO 3166-1.
Die Liste der ISO-3166-2-Codes für Deutschland enthält die Codes für die deutschen Länder. Die Codes bestehen aus zwei Teilen, die durch einen Bindestrich voneinander getrennt sind. Der erste Teil gibt den Landescode gemäß ISO 3166-1 (für Deutschland DE), der zweite den Code für den Gliedstaat (in Deutschland: Land) wieder.

The country codes have been published as ISO 3166-1 since 1997, when ISO 3166 was expanded into three parts, with ISO 3166-2 defining codes for subdivisions and ISO 3166-3 defining codes for former countries. [1]
