1. Hinamatsuri – The Doll Festival. Hinamatsuri, also known as Doll’s Day or Girls' Day, is held on March 3. Recognized throughout the country, Hinamatsuri is a celebration of Japan’s girls – during the festivities, families pray for happy marriages and prosperous futures for their daughters.

Originating in Japan’s northern Tohoku region, these dolls are commonly found at hot spring resorts. Kokeshi dolls are cylindrical and made of wood, with delicately painted features.
Japanese dolls (ningyos in Japanese) are a much-celebrated part of Japanese culture. The dolls are not just souvenirs or toys; they are displayed in homes, celebrated at festivals, represent certain ideologies or historical figures, and are given as gifts.
1. Kimekomi Dolls. A traditional method for crafting dolls starting with a wood base. Many of the highest quality dolls crafted in Japan today are Kimekomi Dolls. They are also available as kits for hobbyists whereby you can design the clothes they wear yourself. 2. Daruma.
Kokeshi dolls are wooden dolls consisting of a cylindrical body and a rounded head. The first Kokeshi creations date back about 150 years and originate from the Tohoku region in the north of the Japanese archipelago. These dolls were carved by woodworkers, decorated with floral patterns and covered by lacquer.
