Jan 20, 2021 · The guitar player and songwriter for The Steel Woods, a country and Southern rock band, passed away on January 16th, 2021. He was found by a friend at his home in Nashville. The cause of death is pending an autopsy report. He was known for his session work with artists like Jamey Johnson and Lindi Ortega.
The Steel Woods were cofounded by Wes Bayliss, Jason "Rowdy" Cope, and business partner Derek Stanley. Cope was the creative lead of the band as well as its lead guitarist, songwriter and co-producer, while Bayliss is a multi-instrumentalist, lead singer and co-producer.
