Jean Nouvel (French: [ʒɑ̃ nuvɛl]; born 12 August 1945) is a French architect. Nouvel studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a founding member of Mars 1976 and Syndicat de l'Architecture, France’s first labor union for architects.
Jean Nouvel (born August 12, 1945, Fumel, Lot-et-Garonne, France) is a French architect who designed his buildings to “create a visual landscape” that fit their context—sometimes by making them contrast with the surrounding area.
Jean Nouvel was the recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2008. In France, he has received many prizes including the Gold Medal from the French Academy of Architecture, two “Équerres d’Argent” and the National Grand Prize for Architecture.
